the lion and the unicorn.

So the past couple of weeks have been quite hectic. I have had contractors in and out the house to refurbish our flat and I have had my family over from Sweden. In addition to all of this it has been mad busy at work as we have been launching our sale in store. But that's all good because I have some pretty exciting plans ahead that I will reveal shortly.

Anyways .. I came across this installation in front of the Royal Festival Hall at Southbank here in London during a day out with the fam. It's created by artist Gitta Gschwendtner who has worked together with 50 young asylum seekers and refugees to create a fluttering wall of poems. I just thought the whole piece was so beautiful and the way they were representing their thoughts about freedom and fear just had to be documented. So I snapped a couple of images for you guys to see. Not quite sure if it is still up (I hope not as it has been raining like crazy the last couple of days) but if it is .. it is definitly worth taking a trip down.

"Freedom is never dear at any price. It is the breath of life. What would a man not pay for living?" // Mohandes Ghandi

The thought behind it is quite similar to a project I was working on 3 years ago. I'll try to find some images of that to show you later but right now I gotta run. Ciao for now / P. x

Saturday 9 July 2011

bring the spa home.

Wouldn't we all want to go to the spa ... like everyday? And haven't you all noticed that the most intruiging and interesting treatments at the spa are the ones that are the simpelest? I am not so fussed about big, clinical words that I barely understand but to think that remedies containing words like "hot stone" or "tropical mousse" could be the answer? That always catches my eye.

Well anyways here's another great anwer. If it's all natural .. Make your own! I have long read about this coffee scrub treatment that would rejuvinate your skin and even out any bad fatty tissues and impurities. And I had also read peoples comments about it and it seemed to really work. So instead of buying one I made my own.

Here's the recipe:

2 cups of used ground coffee (if you're not a coffee drinker like myself, Starbuck's can help you with this)
1/2 cup natural sea salt or raw sugar
1 tablespoon of massage oil
1 tablespoon of olive oil
1/2 cup brown sugar to make it sweeter (optional)

I have used it once already and it felt really nice so will definitly finish my jar! And for all of you that don't really care about things like this .. how about making a cool, embellished or painted jar and give it away as a gift?

And for all you that do .. make it and try it. You will love it! / P. x

So subtle, so clean .. but don't you still feel the grass in between your toes and sun shining in your face when you see this? Festivaaaaal! I know I do .. but then you look outside and see the ever pouring RAIN! Come on London .. Time to start reflecting the summer displays!

Let's hope for better weather tomorrow! / P. x

brainiac.

So I am thinking about all my future plans and how I want to go ahead with them so I have decided to take matters in my own hands tomorrow and start to do some research .. Contact a few distributors and companies and see where things go from there. Have had a very relaxing day today which has allowed me to think through my goals. Has been quite inspirational actually .. Sometimes you need "me-days" I guess .. Weekend has been great btw. Already longing for the next!

Monday 20 June 2011

it has begun.

Today was the first day of the re-decoration of our pad .. We are re-painting the whole flat, putting wall paper up and buying some really nice pieces. The guys will be working on the base for another 2 weeks and then we are hopefully done with the core. You won't even recognize this baby once we are done! Looking forward to seeing the results!

rial pendants.

After a long week at work with newness on the floor and directive changes I spent the day shopping and the evening going through some of the findings I brought with me from the States. As I told you before I found an amazing store called Beads Galore where I spent a couple of hours on one of my last days there. Going through all my bits from there and the bits I got from my auntie I started to get some ideas for my new projects.

I especially wanted to share these pieces with you as it was such a surprise to find them in the store. They are authentic Iranian 5 rial coins that have been hand-crafted into two beutiful pendants. They only had about 4 in store so I chose the two best ones and brought them home with me. Not quite sure what I am going to do with them yet (pieces like this make me slightly nervous as they are one of a kind) but it was still fun to play around with ideas.

with swarowski crystals, authentic shells and fresh water pearls

Pretty nice huh? Also for everyone that have asked me about my pieces and why I don't showcase them here .. I am very particular with the work I show on my blog as most of the projects are still in the process of being completed. I love to share all my work with you but for everyone in the same kind of business, you will know that sharing all your ideas at this stage would just be stupid. So don't feel disheartened .. I promsie that you will see a lot of my pieces here very soon.

Much love / P. x

wonder world.

Finally time to put some images up from my amazing trip to the Grand Canyon. I've been back for a little more than a week now and I have been both adapting and enjoying my time with my bestest friend and my family. And I have also been extremely lazy during this whole period .. But here we go. Enjoy the images and make sure you all plan a trip to see this remarklable place!

sedona - the red rock town
prickley pear ice cream .. comes from the desert cactus. had to be done!
gold in a bottle?
flagstaff .. on our way to the canyon. look how green it is!
oh yea .. i'm on top of the world!
the grand canyon
everyone waiting to see the sunset ..

Beautiful isn't it? And the funniest thing is that the images don't even make this place any justice. One of the most breathtaking places I've ever seen.

One wonder down .. Six to go. Big love / P. x

Saturday 4 June 2011

first whole day.

Hello people! You probably already figured that I'm back in London now (since I am alive and writing) but like always, after a long flight like this, it takes me a while to become "normal" again. I was supposed to go in to work tomorrow but kind as my manager is she allowed me to stay in another day.

So now that I've explained why I haven't written .. let me tell you what I feel. Apart from the extreme jet-lag .. I feel really comfortable in my new flat. I mean .. when I came back the first day I was feeling down and really wanted to go back to the States (and I still do) but now I am slowly starting to appreciate my time back. I am starting up new projects and have new goals to set and tomorrow I'm getting the most amazing gift ever delivered .. I'll keep that one quiet for myself though! :)

I loved Arizona and my time there .. but for now I am ok with a great night in with my girls. Hope you have all enjoyed your weekend so far. Big Love / P. x

p.s. i love you

Thursday 2 June 2011

am i ready to go back?

Shopping. Eating. Hugging. Kissing. Laughing. Crying .. but most importantly taking it all in for the last time. 2,5 weeks are so not enough! I will really miss everyone and everything here .. So the answer is no .. I'm not ready to go back! But hopefully we will come back soon again .. I will make sure of it! :)

Oh! We ended up going to Sedona and the Grand Canyon yesterday and I have loads of images I want to show you. That place is amazing! But that will all have to wait .. Family time now! / P. x

Tuesday 31 May 2011

almost time to say "see you later".

Say cheese!! We never ended up going to the GC and Sedona today but still had a great day with a dinner party and loads and loads of shopping. Not long left till it's time to head back to London so you will all be spared from my constant updates from here .. Lol. I just can't help it .. When I like something, I like to share it :) Starting to feel a bit sad now aswell .. Have really had a great time here which makes me not want to go back at all .. and on top of that I hate goodbyes. Guess it'll have to be a "see you later" instead ... which means it's time to start saving for another trip to here!

Good night America .. Ta-da for now! / P. x

beads galore indeed!

OMG!! I stepped in to heaven for 2 hours today and came out with the world biggest grin. My auntie took me to a huge bead store in Phoenix today and I knew, from the first second, that I was going to spend a lot of money in there. The beads were absolutely fantastic and the staff were so, so helpful and polite. I have been to quite a few bead stores during the past years but this one had a whole different atmosphere .. I absolutely loved it! And OMG to all the prices too .. it's so much cheaper than London.
Thank you Beads Galore and auntie for a great day and yayy for all my beautiful findings!! I wont show them now but you'll see what I mean once I'm done with them. They are so amazing!

Love / P. x
